Can you design a custom carton to meet my needs?

Yes! One of our packaging experts will be happy to assist you in designing a carton to meet your specific needs.

How do I place an order for ready-to-ship cartons?

We deliver our stock catalog items through a network of our distributor partners. Pricing is determined by market region and product type, thereby giving you the best possible pricing in your area. Your SCT distributor will also be able to supply that information to you.

What is the minimum for custom printing on stock items?

We have several small print programs and varying minimums per item category. Our packaging experts will be happy to discuss your particular custom print project!

How long does it take to receive an order?

For our stock catalog products, if the order is placed before Noon EST on Tuesday, the order will be delivered the following week.

For custom items, lead times will vary.

How can I become a distributor of SCT stock catalog items?

Do you ship stock catalog items internationally?

Materials & Substrates Glossary

Our products are made from various types of paperboard, corrugate and molded fiber and are available in a variety of colors and finishes. Below are the main materials we use to produce our products. Together we’ll determine what’s right for your packaging.

CUK Coated Unbleached Kraft 

Virgin paperboard that is not bleached. Has one white side that has been clay coated for durability and printability, and a Kraft brown side. Also known as Clay Coated Kraft (CCK).

CRB Coated Recycle Board 

Produced with 100% recycled paperboard. Has one white side that has been clay coated for durability and printability, plus an unbleached side.  Also known as Clay Coated Recycle Board (CCRB).

Kraft

Made from virgin, unbleached paperboard. Brown on both sides.

SBS Solid Bleached Sulfate 

Premium paperboard produced with virgin bleached wood pulp. White on both sides. Typically clay coated for added durability and printability.

URB Uncoated Recycle Board

Uncoated board made from recycled paper, usually brown in color. Generally contains post-consumer waste. Also known as Bending Chipboard (BC).

FBB Folding Box Board

Coated paperboard that is produced with a mixture of virgin and recycled pulp. Typically white on both sides and clay coated for durability and printability.

Corrugated

Corrugated cardboard is made up of a layered, arched paper created with a process called “fluting.”  This material is great when strength and protection are needed.

Molded Fiber

Made from plant based fiber sources, molded fiber can be formed into rigid shapes combining functionality with strength.

Carton Types and Assembly

Understand the information and terms below and you’ll become a folding carton genius!

Lock-Corner

Corners are unglued, requires box to be folded and tabs inserted for assembly.

Fold-Up-Sides

Sides fold up, no top.

Automatic

Has glued corners, comes folded flat. Requires no assembly and pops upright when opened for quick loading.

Biers

Automatic box with a solid bottom panel. 6-corner, all glued; 4-corners in the bottom; 2-corners in the lid.

Clamshell

All corners are pre-glued and come nested. Just fold over the top and lock front tab.

Hinged-Back

A 4-corner Biers box with unglued corners at the back or front bottom of the box to allow for easy loading.

Himes

Lock-bottom box with a 4-panel bottom that creates a firm box with a quick pop-open feature.

4-Corner Biers Pop-up Tray (4 cup drink carrier) 

Tabs push inward, to allow for a smaller cup to be secured.

Tuck-Top

Single panel lid that closes by tucking flap inside panel of box.

Patented Fold Down/Lock Up Barn Closure

Folds down flat to stack as a box, or pull up and lock for barn structure with handle.

Fast-Top

Double panel lid that closes by pulling down side wings, designed for quick handling.

Front-Load

Load in contents from the front.

Pop-Up

Lift box in a swift upward position to assemble and lock.

Sealed Ends

Commonly use to package goods in manufacturing, must be sealed on both ends by customer machinery.

Machine-Loaded

Used to package goods in manufacturing, must be assembled and sealed by customer machinery.

Reverse-Tuck

Tucks are on opposite sides at each end of carton.

Straight-Tuck

Tuck flaps are on the same side at each end of the carton.
